ORIENTEERING TEAM

Orienteering can be one of the most physically demanding events we compete in. Teams of two cadets use only a magnetic compass and their 100 meter pace count to find checkpoints on an orienteering course as accurate and fast as possible. The course's leg lengths vary from 150 meters to over 1000 meters. Topographical maps are used in more mountainous terrain but in our area, the elevation changes are so slight, a topo map is no help. This is an international sport that requires physical stamina and the ability to think on your feet (you also can't be afraid to get nasty dirty as you traverse some of the courses). Contact Jimmy "String Bean" Green for more info on the team.
